Hyderabad to Extend up to RRR
The HMDA is planning a significant expansion of its jurisdiction to accommodate the city’s rapid growth. Currently, HMDA oversees an area of approximately 7,257 square kilometers, encompassing seven districts, 70 mandals, and 1,032 villages, including the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and 40 municipalities or nagar panchayats.
HMDA Expansion: Telangana CM Plans to Extend Boundaries to Regional Ring Road
In February 2024, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced plans to extend HMDA’s boundaries beyond the Outer Ring Road (ORR) to include areas up to the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR). This expansion aims to facilitate continued development and improve infrastructure in the surrounding municipalities. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of constructing radial roads to connect the ORR with the RRR and directed officials to prepare Master Plan-2050 for Hyderabad, considering areas within the ORR as part of the city.
